چکیده

This work compares two ways of spiral scanning in MRI, i.e., scanning with an odd or with an even number of k-space trajectories. Within each scan, the angles between adjacent trajectories are equal to each other. On the condition that prior correction for experimental phase distortion of the image be feasible, we show that an odd number of trajectories yields about twice as much information as that available from the nearest even number of trajectories. Consequently, using an odd number of trajectories rather than the traditional even number, can bring about image improvement and/or scan time reduction. Keywords— k-space, asymmetric sampling, spiral scanning, point-spread function.

3D Dual VENC PCMRA using Spiral Projection Imaging

Purpose: This work focuses on the reduction of scan time required by the phase-contrast (PC) MRA technique. The presented work builds on earlier work [1] in the way of parameter optimization. The proposed method consists of a 3D variable density spiral projection imaging (SPI) trajectory [2] combined with a dual velocity encoding technique [3]. SPI is a rapid imaging technique that improves acq...

Fast Single Breath-hold 3D Abdominal Spiral Imaging with Water / Fat Separation and Off-resonance Correction

Introduction Large volume coverage, short total scan time and robust water/fat separation are important issues in abdominal MRI. Breath-hold approaches are often used to avoid respiratory motion artifacts, which demands for efficient sampling schemes. Spiral imaging is one of them [1], but shows high sensitivity to off-resonance [2]. Image blurring resulting from spatially varying Bo inhomogene...

Spiral readouts for 4D flow MRI

Background Time-resolved three-dimensional three-directional phase contrast MRI (4D flow) is being increasingly used to study the physiology and patophysiology of cardiovascular blood flow. However, the key limitation of existing implementations is the long scan times required. Spiral readouts are efficient and have appealing flow sensitivity properties. In this work, we investigate whether the...

Four-dimensional flow MRI using spiral acquisition.

Time-resolved three-dimensional phase-contrast MRI is an important tool for physiological as well as clinical studies of blood flow in the heart and vessels. The application of the technique is, however, limited by the long scan times required. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of using spiral readouts to reduce the scan time of four-dimensional flow MRI without sacrificing quality. ...

Optimization of Parameters in 16-slice CT-‌‌scan Protocols for Reduction of the Absorbed Dose

Introduction In computed tomography (CT) technology, an optimal radiation dose can be achieved via changing radiation parameters such as mA, pitch factor, rotation time and tube voltage (kVp) for diagnostic images. Materials and Methods In this study, the brain, abdomen, and thorax scaning was performed using Toshiba 16-slice scannerand standard AAPM and CTDI phantoms. AAPM phantom was used for...
